The seven chakras within body space are energy centers,
transformers, and sensors located along the spine and up into the head
which connect the nadis (meridians) with the auras surrounding the physical
and subtle bodies.
The chakras have three functions in common. They serve
as gates through which unmodified energy can flow. They transmute unmodified
energy into different frequencies. And they sense subtle energy from the
external environment as it makes contact with the surfaces of the auric
fields surrounding body space.
Of the seven chakras in body space, two originate in the
head and five at the spinal column. All energy centers must be active and
in balance if a person hopes to experience wholeness and unconditional
joy. Unfortunately, few people have their chakras active and in balance.
Instead, for the vast majority, the chakras vary in activity depending
on how conscious a person has become on each plane of causation, and how
blocked each chakra is because of stress or fear.
An easy way to determine which chakras are blocked is
to simply pay attention to which parts of your body get tight, or begin
to hurt when you are overloaded and can't process all the energy flowing
through your subtle energy system. If, for example, you get a headache
when you are overloaded, it is your sixth chakra, the third eye, which
is blocked. If you develop a tightness in your throat or the back of your
neck or shoulders get tight and begin to hurt, you have a blockage at the
fifth chakra, the throat chakra. If your heart begins to pound or you get
palpitations in your heart center when you are stressed, then the blockage
is in the fourth chakra, the heart center.
When you feel tightness in your stomach or your stomach
begins to ache, the restriction is in the third chakra, the solar plexus
center. Blockages in the second chakra, the sexual center, can manifest
as either an ache in the intestines, problems with digestion, problems
in the urinary tract or sexual dysfunction. For women there can be a disruption
in menstruation when the second chakra is blocked. A blockage in the first
chakra at the base of the spine can also manifest as digestive problems
or difficulties with the bowel movement.
As a general rule, the more evolved a person is, the more
active the chakras become and the more easily they can perform their functions.
